The youngest do the dishes. in my family. This is the case. 
And when I do the dishes I am the youngest. What a funny maths it is. 

So today I set up a new rule: Hey Tomato, you do the dishes!
The pig is not to be trusted.

Christmas Tree in August

In the middle of summer, it is good to think about Christmas... 
At least it is my first thought as I see this scene. This week as days are so hot,  temperature is way above average and way above 100 years' highs, it' s a nice thing to paint shadows... shadows of a wannabe Christmas Tree.

See-through 1.

It is so much fun to touch, feel, wear see-trough fabrics. And I realized how much fun to paint them. Normally I paint on panels, but this time I painted on linen. Well, it is fun the see-through fabric and  struggle to paint on this surface, gesso doesn't help much...
May be I am snobbish... 'linen is so hard for me', silk is my favorite.
And to have a photo... well... it is not the best one, you have to see-through.
No matter what, I wanted to share.

Sunbathing - dog painting

Have you seen small creatures bathing in the sun lately?
First phase is sitting and looking clever and alert.
It takes a minute or so.
Next phase is looking tired and laying down a bit. 30 sec.
And then the Big Relaxation.

Cautious Portrait - oil painting

Painting a portrait is not the easiest task on the planet. 

Human eye and mind combination are so precise and 

delicate together that just a small nuance

and the likeliness is over. 

So much contemplation and more practice that I need.

This is a friend of mine from real world. She is a furry-4-legged friend, and I don't know  why, she is camera shy. May be the lens of the camera are too big, I guess. Anyway, even her clever eyes shine through or not, she is a cute one.

Flowering Happens - small, amaryllis oil painting

Sometimes we just wait for flowering. It seems, time has not come, not yet. And there is that miraculous  moment, when flowering happens. Where is it come from? There is nothing in that bulb, no flower.
How can a flower like this be hidden inside? Miraculous.

Is that a Flower or not? - small oil painting

My father angrily pick them out if he sees them amongst his spotless green lawn. Are they weeds?

And each kid happily pick them as flowers. Are they flowers?

I don't decide but it is such a good feeling to paint them.

One of our first play is hide and seek. We blink and "hide". I think that not much changes until we are grown ups. We often want to be "invisible" for a moment and then we want someone to be glad for us that "we are found".

Yellow Light -oil painting

"OK, let's paint a warming up" I said to myself. Painting apple slices - it must be a warming up. Till... I fall in love the yellow light that was reflected on the slices. 

Unbelievingly simple.  Or? Is it really simple? 

I haven't find an answer. It might be love. Yellow Light Love.

This piece of art made of handpainted wool. 

I used some green angel hair, 

a few beads and those white cloudes  are small paper pieces.

It is Angel time, isn't it? 

How To Make A Colorful Flower Stand?

Oh yes, I felt again that I must paint something. I needed more colors. Finally I dug out some leftover concrete-tubes from a previous house building project. They were used as supporting pillars.
How nice. They can be flower stands in their next life in the garden.
So?
May be that you want more color too into your life.
Here it is how it happened to me, use this post as an inspiration. Color your life! It is easy. Really.

First scene: what you need- concrete-tube cut into desired sizes. I had 2x 50cm  and 1x 70 cm tall pieces.
                                          - paint  suitable for concrete painting. My choice were blue, yellow and white.
At this point you are not surprised by my color choice.... if you read my other post about flip-flop stamps and about coasters.

Second scene: the work- paint as you like

I like to paint simple and effective patterns  like these spirals.

I never lose interest in spirals. 

That is a mystery in itself.  

Third scene: waiting, drying...

This is my weakness. 

So I go for a walk. 

Fourth scene: dress rehearsal... 

This is the time when I consider that my flower stands are a little bit unusual. So may be I need some moderate plants... and I don't have any... at this moment.

Finer than I thought it would be.

A piece of shimmering silk and dyes

make me feel magic.

This time was poppy-heads time.

One of my favorites. 

I don't know how it exists, 

how this form is possible, this poppy-head form...

Have you ever examined a form like this? 

I am completely amazed.

This silk shawl flowers.

As the light varies from hour to hour

the flowers grow and bloom 

and  change their "outfit"in the light.

 No one tell them to change. It happens. 

They change from pale to bright and back to pale.

New shades from hour to hour. 

Life lives new colors.
