Save the Flower - still life

Somehow I want to save the flowers which have broken their stems.  I feel sorry for them.
Sometimes the naked heads have to swim a bit in order to make me believe that they are well saved.
This time this small flower was quite lucky, as it has got a few inches of the stem...

Light-minded Portrait - oil painting

I often take myself too seriously.
For example when I prepare for an art show or an art fair (as I am doing so now).
I could come aware of the situation if I loose my sense of humor and I torture myself with every single  critique I have ever got. And what is more... I can fabricate new ones... till I get tired and finally .... stop. What a relief!

And then:  a new life begins.
Slowly I get back the playfulness, the experiments, the humor.
So this is a therapeutic piece, a light-minded portrait.
I can recommend it if you don't want to be bloody serious.

The last Sunflower - still life

I finished this painting a few weeks ago. This was the last sunflower of the season in my garden. I just didn't want to miss it. I was in a race for the head with birds. I am glad that I won.

Just Leaves - oil painting

Usually I paint more definite subjects. But this time I was in love these colorful leaves.
And I wasn't sure that the deep reds and different greens and yellows would work together... or not. It's an experiment.

Finding our Strength - oil painting

Oh, our strength is not always obvious and visible. Sometimes it's not calculable at all that our quality will make us survive,  be successful or free.
It is unpredictable therefore exiting.
What goes 'further' that hotness of the  pepper or the lightness of the feather?

Stillness - oil painting

Sitting and meditating at the bank of a small lake is mesmerizing and
I never get tired of it. I like those gently changing reflections.
It is the Wholeness itself.
Zen.

Mountain tops - landscape, oil painting

I love to look far away.  I am totally thrilled when I can see beautiful mountain tops. I love the best when I can see those mountain tops from an airplane: I can see a "giant's sandbox" with colorful patterns and 'wrinkles'. That giant played so well, and I can't imagine that huge energy which needed for the play.

Seascape - oil painting

This is the third piece of my landscape cycle. (and three more to come)
Be careful as you walk into the sea, it's rather rocky under the water,  just mind your legs...

Go Paint! - still life

It is easy and simple to gain motivation for painting when a good thing happens like this: I won a featured artist status for the next month at the DPW gallery. Wow, I am so happy!
Oranges, they were the lucky ones. I have to tell you that I showed this painting to my mother and she said: 'hey, it seems to me that these oranges are a little bit rotten... so the judge probably hasn't smell them'. Ha-ha-ha.

Well, I am so happy that this painting was picked.
Here you can see the winners and all the entries:

Rebellion - oil painting

Once a well known painter said to us (students) 'Guys, just please, P L E A S E never paint sunsets!!!' He had seen so many bad interpretations, he had enough... I think.  So good or bad... this is my rebellion.

Orange Juice - oil painting

This painting was George's wish, because he loved my Apple juice painting so much. So he ordered something similar. So I took that jug and filled it up... with oranges. And to top it all I took a pic at halftime of the painting. I like the black gessoed base so much!

The Littlest Angel - oil painting

I painted a tiny statue because I was amazed by its dramatic appearance.
Or was I the one who add the drama to it? Probably the dark background?
Anyway I like its contrasts.

You can also guess what he holds in his hands...

Where Is My Spoon?

We drink our teas mostly with lemon on this part of the globe.
It is not so relevant information... but
 where is MY SPOON?

I painted this still life on a vivid orange base, which is a bit unusual choice
but I am happy with that
because this way my whites got new life and warm tone.

Fitting in

We have a tendency of longing for fitting in.
Sometimes it is simple and natural.
And other times... well if someone is not born to be sour... what would they do?
Will they be bitter?

3 Bottles

It is simple like that: as the sun came out I have seen my colorful bottles with new eyes. There were nice and colorful shadows and wow...  I melt like an ice cube.  A simple composition begging for painting. I couldn't resist.

Canned Peaches

I preserved peaches on canvas.
To tell the truth I don't like canned peaches at all.
So this year this is my clever version of preservation.
And I eat the models too.

Sunny side up - oil painting

It is not a question that we long for the sunny side if we are in shadow. And backwards.
One is for sure: where we are is never good enough.

Anyway, this painting is good enough for me, I loved painting it.
