Bathing Time
I like to experience with coloured background. This time I've just pushed the experience even further: wet fur on that coloured background. Have you take notice that in those big, fluffy furs there are spindly legs?

Grief - dog portrait
Painting a sad dog is healing to the soul.
The experiment here is the vivid red base and the limited palette.

A True Aristocrat
Usually I have to find a reason why to paint a given painting. It can be a beam of light, a wonderful colour, a smile on a face, a .... whatever that touches my soul. If i don't find that specific reason, my soul gets bored.
In this case the reason was 'that look'. Just a born aristocrat can have 'that look'. I hope it comes through.

Hugo -dog portrait
Lately I painted a series of dog portraits.
Here is the second in the row, Hugo. He is my new best friend. A totally different character than Titan.
I don't know how it is with other artists, but with me I am always in love with my 'painting subjects'.

Meet My Friend, Titan -oil painting
Meet my friend, Titan. He is my best serious friend. How could not be? With that face he has... he must be serious. Anyway he's a gentle giant. Please welcome him:

White - oil painting
Painting a single white flower is not the easiest task. There are so many white values we still call 'white' that after a while and a good amount of paint I ask the philosophical question: How much white is still white?
Well, in practice even if I see the values properly, theremight be are mixing problems and I can start the whole mixing job again. So for a small amount of proper white I need lots of white.

This is my last painting of Khanom. I went up to the top of the flat rocks and put my painting equipment in the shadow of a palm tree. I didn't know that so many curious creature lived on this palm tree, each and all of them got excited of my colours. So we get acquainted with each other but not the proper way. I hope they are great yellow and blue and green survivors.

Green Water -oil painting
Usually the pools are built to look blue. But this one at the Lake Tisza was green, so green... and the reflection of the sun was so exciting... I have never seen anything like this. Look the contrast at the background ... Lake Tisza is a living water.

A Day Of Reds
A friend of mine, a nutritionist always says to pay attention to the colours on our plates. If we have the greens and yellows and blues and whites we more likely get all the nutritions we need. One day I will try this approach on a painting as well. Till then here is the day of reds.
This composition has just begged for a black gesso. I couldn't resist.

Sandy Beach, Khanom - oil painting
The inspiration of this painting was the different colours and shadows of a sandy beach. The 'x' sign from mother nature is freshly formed daily. What you don't see on this specific painting is the heatwave. You think that chasing for x sign is easy peasy. And I tell you, that's not the case. The bug bites and a hot day combination is challenging.

A Chilly Day
One of my favourite paintings is this one. It is so unusual for me to be compelled to paint those 'colourless days' of winter. But this scene was just irresistible. It was so irresistible that I had to stop and drink in the scenery into my soul. Love at first sight.

A Morning in Khanom
oil on gesso board, 24x17 cm (No.117)
A morning in Khanom, Thailand. I went up to the rocks to paint this wonderful view. Please consider that I am not a rock climber at all, not even a beginner one... and the painting equipment... well... it is not a rock-climbing one either. So all in all I am very happy to have this painting.

Plain air painting, oh... those mosquitos and wind and sand...
well it's just not so easy to paint on site.
But the reward is that you can have a nice splash when you ready.
